The Second Sunday in Ordinary Time Dear Parishioners, As we enter Ordinary Time, the Church invites us to reflect on the beginnings of Jesus' public ministry and the manifestation of His glory. Today's readings highlight the transformative power of Christ and the diverse gifts bestowed upon us by the Holy Spirit. In the first reading from Isaiah 62:1-5, the prophet speaks of Jerusalem's restoration, using the imagery of a joyful marriage to describe God's profound delight in His people. This passage reminds us of the intimate and loving relationship God desires to have with each of us. Psalm 96 calls us to "Proclaim his marvelous deeds to all the nations," urging us to sing a new song to the Lord and declare His glory among all peoples. This psalm encourages us to be active witnesses of God's wondrous works in our lives. In the second reading from 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, Paul teaches about the variety of spiritual gifts given by the same Spirit for the common good. He emphasizes that each person is endowed with unique gifts, all originating from the same Spirit, to serve and build up the community. The Gospel from John 2:1-11 recounts the wedding feast at Cana, where Jesus performs His first public miracle by turning water into wine. This sign reveals His divine glory and leads His disciples to believe in Him. It also underscores the importance of Mary's intercession and her directive to the servants: "Do whatever he tells you." Reflection The miracle at Cana signifies the transformative power of Christ in our lives. Just as He transformed water into wine, He can transform our ordinary experiences into extraordinary encounters with His grace. This event also highlights the sanctity of marriage and the joy that Christ brings to human relationships. Paul's message to the Corinthians reminds us that we are all blessed with diverse gifts, each contributing to the vitality of our parish community. Let us recognize and cultivate these gifts, using them in service to one another and to further God's kingdom on earth. As we continue our journey through this Jubilee Year 2025, themed "Pilgrims of Hope," let us remain open to the transformative presence of Christ in our lives. May we, like the disciples at Cana, deepen our faith in Him and be inspired to share His love and hope with others. Wishing you all a blessed week ahead. In Christ's love, Fr. Matt
