Today, we enter the beautiful season of Advent, a time of hope, anticipation, and preparation for the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ. As we light the first candle on the Advent wreath, symbolizing hope, we are invited to reflect on the promises of God and prepare our hearts for the joyous celebration of Christ’s birth.
In the first reading from Jeremiah 33:14-16, the prophet reassures us of God’s faithfulness, foretelling the coming of a righteous Savior who will bring justice and peace. This passage reminds us of the hope we have in Christ, who fulfills all of God’s promises.
Psalm 25 echoes this message, proclaiming, “To you, O Lord, I lift my soul.” It invites us to place our trust in God and seek His guidance as we navigate the distractions of the season.
In 1 Thessalonians 3:12—4:2, Paul calls us to increase in love for one another and to live holy lives as we await Christ’s return. This Advent season is a time to nurture our love for God and others, to prepare our hearts for Christ’s presence.
Finally, the Gospel of Luke 21:25-28, 34-36 speaks of Jesus’ return, urging us to stay vigilant and prayerful. It is a reminder to focus on what truly matters, to live with hope, and to prepare for the joy of Christ’s coming, both at Christmas and at the end of time.
