ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

The Mission of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Music Ministry is to lead and uplift the community in sung prayer and encourage the assembly's call to full, conscious, and active participation. We intend to build each other up as companions on the journey and to inspire the hearts and spirituality of our IHM Family.

On September 14, 2024, the IHM Music Ministry hosted a joint retreat and concert with The Cantorbury Tales, celebrating music and fellowship with ministers from both Paterson and Newark dioceses. Organists, directors of music, cantors, choir members and anyone interested in the process of music-making in the church were invited to participate.

The morning started with coffee, brunch, and fellowship in the gym, followed by a brief welcome and introduction before heading to the church. Fr. Emerson Francisco, from St. Philip the Apostle in Clifton joined us to preside over the service. Next, we held a choir rehearsal in preparation for the concert later in the day. After lunch in the gym, we resumed activities with a guided meditation by Registered Yoga Teacher, Mary Moscarello. A beautiful concert, open to the public, capped off the event. All were invited to stay for Sunday Mass at 5:00 P.M., and those from the retreat team added harmonies to the hymns. Fr. Mateusz Jasniewicz, pastor of IHM, was with us throughout the day for support, encouragement and prayer.

The IHM Family Choir is seeking new members. All those ages 8+ are welcome to sing with us on select Monday evenings and Sunday mornings, as well as special occasions including Easter and Christmas.

We welcome singers at anytime throughout the year, but especially encourage you to join us for our first rehearsal on Monday, January 17th at 7:30 PM in the church, following the Novena.

Rehearsals will be held Mondays at 7:30 PM. We will meet Sundays at 10 AM to warmup and sing for 10:30 AM Masses through June 19th, then recommencing in September.

Our music director would like to offer a special thanks to everyone who dedicated their time and talents this Easter. These wonderful singers and instrumentalists helped to elevate our prayer and worship through their sonorous music.

 We would like to acknowledge the hardworking students and the dedicated administrators, teachers, faculty, and staff at IHM and in Catholic schools nationwide.
 
 We were delighted to kickoff the week by welcoming Bishop Kevin Sweeney to celebrate our 10:30 Mass on Sunday, January 30th. This Mass was also the IHM Family Choir debut. We are very excited for the future of our ministry.
