A practicing Catholic is someone who is baptized in the Catholic Church and actively lives the Catholic faith.
Fully initiated Catholics have received Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation in the Catholic Church.
If married, a practicing Catholic should be married in the Catholic Church or have a marriage that is recognized by the Church.
A practicing Catholic is also registered in a parish and strives to live according to the Precepts of the Church. These precepts are the basic responsibilities of Catholic life:
Regular use of parish offertory envelopes or online giving helps the parish confirm active participation when someone requests a sponsor certificate, godparent form, letter of recommendation, or other parish documentation. Even a symbolic offering placed in an envelope helps us maintain an accurate record of participation.
Sometimes people come to the parish requesting a sacrament, asking to serve as a godparent or sponsor, volunteering for a liturgical ministry, or seeking another parish service, only to discover that they are not registered in the parish or that their sacramental status needs attention.
This can be confusing, but it is also an opportunity. Let us explain what these terms mean and how you can make sure that you are both a registered parishioner and an active, practicing Catholic.
A registered parishioner is someone who is officially enrolled in the parish database maintained by the parish office.
Registered parishioners may receive parish mailings, updates, and offertory envelopes. Registration also helps the parish keep accurate records and serve families more effectively.
Once a person turns 18, he or she should register individually in the parish, even if still living at home with parents.
Parish staff members are happy to check your registration status for you.

Please contact the parish office:
If you know you are not registered.
If you have not received any parish mailings in the last six months.
If you no longer have a landline or have changed your phone number in the past five years.
If your adult children have never registered in another parish. They may still be listed as part of your household. Many families are in this situation, especially with adult children in their 20s, 30s, or 40s. Please consider calling the office to check.
If you are uncertain about your status as a practicing Catholic and would like to speak confidentially with a priest.
If you need the Sacrament of Reconciliation and cannot attend during the regularly scheduled times.
If you need Baptism, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, or full initiation into the Catholic Church.
