Pastor
Rev. Mateusz “Fr. Matt” Jasniewicz, Ed.S., M.P.A., is the Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Wayne, New Jersey, a role he has held since June 2020. Born in the southwest region of Poland, he immigrated to the United States in 2009 and has since devoted his life to priestly ministry, educational leadership, and the spiritual renewal of parish communities.
Fr. Matt completed his priestly formation at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland, earning a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) with a concentration in pastoral theology. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Paterson in 2015. Over the course of his ministry, he has served in several communities throughout New Jersey, including Rockaway, Clifton, and Wayne, with assignments spanning parish leadership, Catholic education, youth ministry, and sacramental formation.
In addition to his theological training, Fr. Matt holds an Educational Specialist degree (Ed.S.) as well as a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.), reflecting his commitment to combining pastoral care with strong administrative, organizational, and educational competencies. He is currently completing doctoral work in Educational Leadership, with a dissertation focused on the long-term sustainability of Catholic elementary schools in New Jersey — a subject rooted in both personal conviction and pastoral experience.
At Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Fr. Matt has led a dynamic era of revitalization. His pastorate features expanded parish ministries, strengthened financial stewardship, enhanced digital and media outreach, and several major facilities improvements to beautify and modernize the parish campus. He is known for building a culture of hospitality, creative engagement, thoughtful preaching, and community-centered outreach, including charitable initiatives supporting local food pantries, shelters, and international relief efforts.
A passionate traveler and student of global spirituality, Fr. Matt has developed a growing pilgrimage ministry, designing and leading international journeys that integrate faith, culture, history, and personal renewal. These efforts—including future programs through AidBlend Travel and MJ Tours—reflect his belief that pilgrimage is one of the most transformative forms of spiritual formation.
As a communicator and creator, Fr. Matt continues to expand the parish’s digital presence through homily podcasts, video reflections, online resources for prayer, and multimedia evangelization. He is also an advocate for technological innovation in parish life, using modern tools to reach parishioners where they live, work, and pray.
Fr. Matt’s ministry is shaped by a deep pastoral heart, an educator’s mindset, and an unwavering commitment to helping people encounter Christ with clarity, depth, and joy. Whether through preaching, teaching, administration, or personal accompaniment, he strives to foster communities where faith is lived with authenticity, compassion, and vision.
He resides in Wayne, New Jersey, where he continues to guide the spiritual, academic, and pastoral mission of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish with dedication, creativity, and faith.
