Troop 192 has been in existence at IHM parish since 1992. It has been a wonderful source of preparing our young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. During this past year Troop 192 scouts have taken hikes through Central Park in NYC and Pyramid Mountain in the Ramapo Mountains and also been overnight camping on the Appalachian Trail.
Ad Altari Dei The religious emblems program also is a large part of the scout's personal growth. Frequent personal conferences with his Scoutmaster help each Boy Scout to determine his growth toward Scouting's aims. During this past year Anthony Gabriel, Michael Brothers and Christopher Hallenback earned this religious emblem by performing a number of significant projects helping senior citizens and many other members of the community while learning about the sacraments.
Eagles Soaring with Troop 192 Recently Life Scouts Christopher Linteris and Nicholas Chrisostomou have completed their Eagle projects. Chris built a wall protecting the IHM middle school from water damage and also with the scouts of Troop 192 created a number of beautification projects improving the terrain around the school. Nicholas planned and built a 25 foot bridge over a stream on a hiking trail in the Ramapo Mountains which allows hikers to cross the stream unhindered.
Personal Growth As Boy Scouts plan their activities and progress toward their goals, they experience personal growth. The Good Turn concept is a major part of the personal growth method of Boy Scouting. Boys grow as they participate in community service projects and do Good Turns for others. Probably no device is as successful in developing a basis for personal growth as the daily Good Turn.
Boys interested in camping and hiking and learning leadership skills are welcome and invited to join Troop 192. For further information contact Scoutmaster Andy Skrzynski at (973) 694 0038.
